Soup & Sound features world-class musicians in casual settings with excellent, homemade soup. Here we present two violinists with roots and formidable accomplishments spanning many areas.
Terry Jenoure
Classically trained, a protégé of Free Jazz (she worked John Carter, Archie Shepp, and Leroy Jenkins among others), writer, performance artist, and self-taught doll maker with two doll sculptures at the Smithsonian National Museum of African-American History and Culture. She holds Doctorate and Masters degrees in Education, taught for 18 years in the Lesley University graduate program, and ran the Augusta Savage Gallery at U. Mass Amherst for 30 years.
Gwen Laster
Violinist, composer, improviser, and educator who has worked with luminaries throughout Pop, Broadway, and the Avant Garde including Andrea Bocelli, Brooklyn Raga Massive, Anthony Braxton, Aretha Franklin, Nona Hendryx, William Parker, Sun Ra Arkestra, and Shakira and J Lo at President Obama’s Inaugural Ball. She is faculty at Bard College.
