BAC Sonic Clinic is a cross-cultural musical healing experience for our online and on-site visitors. The exhibition will feature musical sounds from immigrant populations throughout Brooklyn. In this sense, BAC Sonic Clinic explores the healing traditions of music and sounds from around the world that have become sounds nurtured by Brooklyn immigrant communities. The sounds presented in this project are culturally specific, multiethnic, and transcultural; they can be instrumental or embedded within the nuance of performance (the body). Each element of BAC Sonic Clinic constructs a different paradigm of healing through the use of sounds from different cultural traditions and is intended to be an exploration of healing techniques.

Music in this program is encountered in a conventional and unconventional sense, meaning that the sounds presented here are created from instruments in a conventional sense, and through the body or soundscapes in an unconventional sense. We developed the program in this way, so that we held true to what music can mean to many different communities and how healing and music is engaged in diverse ways.

The exhibition also includes digital artworks by artist David Gumbs, whose creations move you through each healing soundscape.
