Kathleen McDermott & Monica Duncan: How it Slips
March 01, 2025
6:00pm – 7:00pm
Fort Greene Park
How it Slips is an interventionist performance in public space. The performers re-shape their bodies with light––they radiate in multiplicity as flasher, fire-fly, street light. A queer camouflage. A body that asks you to look as it is effaced. A flashlight. A comic trope. Light as a protective coat. How it Slips invites the audience to consider––what do they conceal of themselves in public space, and what do they let slip? How do they signal, how do they ask to be seen? How do they direct our attention, and what do they highlight? Light as a form of urban camouflage––can they hide in plain sight? CREDITS Kathleen McDermott & Monica Duncan, featuring Neva Guido, Hsiao-Chu (Julia) Hsia & Libby Paloma. Costuming support by Daniel Ryan Johnston, Lorca Yu, Jess Zepeda.
