High Strung Women

Capturing the recent upsurge of interest in traditional string music, this lively jamboree, curated by well-known fiddler Sarah Alden, highlights banjo, fiddle, mandolin, bass, guitar and more. Participating artists include Calamity Jane's Old Time String Band, Hilary Hawke, Mamie Minch, Rima Fand, Katie Down and Tes Slominski. The evening closes with a jam session. High Strung Women is part of Brooklyn Arts Council's Half the Sky Festival: Brooklyn Women in Traditional Performance, an unprecedented series of concerts, performances, workshops and symposia highlighting Brooklyn women performing artists, especially those working in traditional art forms.
