As part of its 4th quarter Hip-Hop 50 tour, the Hard2Earn podcast has joined forces with Brooklyn’s Billie Holiday Theatre (The Billie) and Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) to present a special edition of its conversation and playback series with Hard2Earn Live: Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). The event will be held in Brooklyn on The Billie’s iconic stage Friday, November 24, 2023 at 7pm.
Special Invited Guest: Legendary music executive, producer and former hip-hop journalist Matty C.
Music will be provided by The Wu-Tang Clan’s very own DJ Mathematics.
Widely considered to be the greatest rap group of all time, the Wu-Tang Clan introduced itself to the world via the transformative Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). The opus didn’t only disrupt music, it changed the soundscape, aesthetic and vernacular of pop culture. The album was a visionary and unique fusion of b-boy hustler and Asian cinema that ultimately served as a springboard for future legends like Method Man, Raekwon the Chef, Ghostface Killah and, of course, the Wu-Tang leader and maestro RZA. To commemorate this seminal body of work, HARD2EARN hosts Torae and Bonsu Thompson will revisit and discuss each of the album’s tracks in front of the live audience at The Billie, where The Wu would record much of its aughts catalog. Torae and Bonsu will also interview their special guest Matty C. (Former A&R, Loud Records and Editor, The Source Magazine). The evening’s music will be provided by The Wu-Tang Clan’s very own DJ Mathematics.
The pre and post-event receptions will be hosted by Brooklyn Arts Council and Jack Daniels.
