Et Alia Theater presents Stella, Come Home

Stella, Come Home is a dance-theater piece that translates A Streetcar Named Desire into movement through the bodies of international women. We feel urged to explore what it means to perform this pinnacle of white US theater as women immigrants in NYC, one of the world's most heterogeneous cities. Using traditional music from our countries (Romania, Brazil, Italy) and leaving dialogue aside, we'll explore the play’s narrative, themes and characters as a parallel to our personal experiences. Just as a reality-stricken Blanche longs for a return to her imagined Belle Reve, we are outsiders going through the painful struggle of letting go of our past, while the promised land of NYC forces us to face our truth: culturally diverse women still have to fight to be heard.
Performance by Et Alia Theater. Directors: SarAika (Sara Pizzi/Aika Takeshima). AD: Marina Zurita. Cast: Ana Moioli Giorgia Valenti Luísa Galatti Maria Müller Israel Harris.
