BIOGRAPHY

Anthony Bonair emigrated from Trinidad, West Indies, to the United States in 1969. He studied photography with Roy DeCarava. His photographs have been published in Dance Magazine, Dance World, and various magazines and newspapers. He was included in An Illustrated Bio-Bibliography of Black Photographers 1940-88, by Deborah Willis Thomas, published in 1989 by Garland Publishing. In addition to exhibiting his work in several New York City galleries, he has served as curator of several outstanding photography exhibits. His photography experience spans almost 35 years. As a photographer, Anthony possesses an unyielding creative energy and a consistently positive attitude toward life and art, which is evident in the dynamic spirit of his work. Anthony's photographic repertoire captures an broad array of feelings that awaken the senses: the rhythmic movement of dance; the candid moment of a portrait; the lively bacchanal of carnival; the despair and celebration of the streets; experimental abstracts; and his most recent innovation - combining multiple images in one negative. The style that Anthony has developed is one of versatility and vitality. He seduces the onlooker with his own unique vision of the world.
