Healing Sounds in the Tradition: Samir Langus

The Gnawa are a sub-Saharan-Berber-Islamic society found throughout Morocco with origins in sub-Saharan Africa. Their music invokes supernatural experiences during an all-night ritual for healing purposes. Moroccan Gnawa music is intended for sacred spirit possession rituals called lila. Gnawa music (and dance) communicates the interaction between everyday experiences and supernatural realms. In this Sonic Clinic, enjoy the healing properties of Gnawa music with Samir Langus.
