Make Every Brooklynite Count

Update: The deadline for submitting the 2020 United States Census has been extended to Saturday, October 31, 2020!

We know you care about our borough's residents, artistic offerings, and overall wellbeing. In hard times such as these, it can feel as though there's little one can do to protect our communities.

The good news: there is one action you can take right now to inspire measurable sustainability, growth, and creative exuberance right here in Brooklyn. Best of all, this task will take fewer than 10 minutes of your time.

Completing your household's 2020 U.S. Census is a quick way to ensure that Brooklyn's 2.5 million residents receive their fair share of the $1.5 trillion in federal aid at stake and that our number of Congressional seats and Electoral College votes remains proportionate to the population of our community for the next ten years.

With our nation in tumult, sufficient funding and appropriate political representation are paramount; they can make — or break — a neighborhood.

The bad news: Despite the U.S. Census closing in nine days, only 66% of residents across the country and right here in Brooklyn have been counted. If only slightly more than half the population responds to this count, our communities will receive slightly more than half the amount of funding they deserve.

In the week ahead, make time to complete your household's Census. You hold the fate of your neighbors, streets, businesses, hospitals, museums, and parks in your hands.

Together, we can shoulder the responsibility of taking care of Brooklyn.
