Creative Coalitions is Bringing Art to Life through a series of community events celebrating the amazing artistic talents and beautiful green spaces of Bushwick, Brownsville, and East New York.

Throughout July, artists including MC Otis Walls, Calvin Booker, Jimmy Hill & the All Starz Band, Xmental, Alexis Mena, Alexia Scott, Royal Knights Marching Band, Tah Phrum duh Bush, Yafreici Peralta, DJ Dubbz, Newlo, and Rodrigo Gonzalez teamed up with garden groups and community organizations including the Isabahlia Ladies of Elegance Foundation, Crystal Wells Block Association Garden, and El Puente to bring music, dance, and hands-on art activities to residents of all ages.

FRIENDS OF BIKO OUTDOORS

Saturday August 2nd

4pm - 7pm

Granite Street Garden

30 Granite Street, between Broadway and Bushwick Avenue

Music, poetry, storytelling and spoken word with the Friends of Biko. Featuring Thelma Thomas, James Johnson, Majestic Funk, Cordon Michael, Underground German Dance Ensemble, and El Puente’s Poetic Kings. Kids can draw their own monster with Miss Zukie.

GARDEN PARTY

Newport Garden

201 Newport Street, between Rockaway and Thatford Avenues

Mural creation with Xmental and live music and dance with Powerful Pioneers and Bomba Yo.

Starting at El Jardin del Pueblo/The People’s Garden

ELDERT STREET BLOCK PARTY

Saturday October 4th

11am – 8pm

Eldert Street Garden

315 Eldert Street between Knickerbocker and Irving Avenues

Musical performances, free family portraits, breakdancing, film screenings, and education about Superfund sites. Also enjoy garden activities throughout the day and pot-luck dinner at sunset.
