For Teaching Artists

We are committed to supporting our roster of teaching artists as well as others in the field.

It is helpful to familiarize yourself with the NYC Department of Education Website as well as the Blueprint For Teaching and Learning in the Arts, which provides a standards-based, rigorous approach to teaching the arts for Pre-K - 12.

Professional Development

We provide professional development (PD) workshops for teaching artists throughout the year, covering topics from thematic learning to classroom management strategies. These sessions are usually open to teaching artists, arts administrators, and classroom teachers.

Community Word Project's Teaching Artist Training Program is also a great way to gain experience. They offer professional development for teaching artists of varying levels working in a range of artistic disciplines.

The Center for Arts Education (CAE) also offers a Teaching Artist Institute and other professional development opportunities.

Networking

The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable provides a network of arts education professionals as well as opportunities for professional development.

Emerging Leaders of New York Arts (ELNYA) is a networking and professional development group for young arts administrators.

The Association of Teaching Artists (ATA) advocates for teaching artists and offers many useful resources.
