About Black Brooklyn Renaissance
Black Brooklyn Renaissance (February 2010– February 2011), features performances, exhibitions, screenings, symposia and workshops, a conference, an oral history project and an archive.
BAC has joined forces with artists and organizations across the borough to make Black Brooklyn Renaissance a truly collaborative and holistic endeavor. Brooklyn has evolved as a major Black cultural center in the United States, largely as a result of the diversity of Black cultures here—African American, Afro-Caribbean, and African—all with distinct arts traditions interacting and expanding in the urban uhuru (freedom) of Brooklyn. Here the historic Black struggle for social justice met the making of art in powerful ways. That legacy continues today without an end in sight. All power to the artists and art of Black Brooklyn Renaissance.

ABOUT RESTORATION
Established in 1967 with the bipartisan support of Senators Robert Kennedy and Jacob Javits, Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (Restoration) is the nation's first community development corporation, and one of Brooklyn's largest. For over forty years, Restoration’s mission has remained unchanged: to improve the quality of life of Central Brooklyn's predominantly low-income and minority families. Integral to its mission, Restoration's Center for Arts & Culture (CAC) aims to promote, present, and preserve the multi-cultural arts legacy of the African Diaspora, and encourages the artistic development of the community.
